North Korea conducts large-scale artillery and missile drill using new combat systems

The Korean Central News Agency announced that the Korean People's Army conducted a firepower attack drill on Saturday, employing long-range artillery, missiles and a variety of new combat systems, including attack drones, tactical cruise missiles, large-caliber thermal-pressure multiple rocket launchers and tactical ballistic missiles. KCNA claimed the weapons demonstrated full destructive power by hitting targets with 100 percent accuracy.

South Korean monitors reported that North Korea fired several ballistic missiles from the Wonsan region toward the East Sea, also known as the Sea of Japan, on the same day. This drill took place a day after South Korea wrapped up five days of joint maritime exercises with the United States and Japan that were aimed at the North. The KCNA report did not specify the drill's exact location, but emphasized the involvement of combined units at all levels of the army.
