North Korean sports officials lead 107 athletes to the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games

North Korea sent a delegation of 107 competitors to Japan for the 20th Asian Games, with minister of physical culture and sports Kim Il-guk at the helm. The team left Pyongyang International Airport under the escort of First Vice Minister Kim Yong-gwon. Participants will take part in 14 disciplines such as football, weightlifting, table tennis and wrestling, with the Games running from Saturday through Oct. 4.

The women's football squad arrived earlier in Osaka and began its tournament with a 10-0 victory over Bangladesh in Group F. The men's football side is scheduled to face China on Wednesday at Wave Stadium Kariya, located southeast of Nagoya. This delegation marks North Korea's continued involvement in regional multi-sport events.
