North Korean troops crossed the MDL roughly 50 times in two months, South warns

According to a defence ministry response quoted by lawmaker Yu Yong-weon, North Korean soldiers crossed the Military Demarcation Line around 20 times in August and about 30 times in September. South Korean troops reacted with audible warnings and warning shots, which led the North Korean forces to retreat each time. Earlier in the week, Seoul blamed Pyongyang for a land-mine explosion in the Demilitarized Zone that wounded South Korean soldiers and called it a violation of the Armistice.

North Korea denied involvement and dismissed the claim as a groundless conspiracy. The Joint Chiefs of Staff labelled the mine incident a breach of the armistice and urged Pyongyang to halt fortification work along the border.
