In an exclusive interview, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski affirmed that North Macedonia has long aligned with Donald Trump’s agenda, welcoming his campaign team in mid-2024 and sending a delegation to the 2025 inauguration. He cited coordinated UN votes on Iran, Venezuela and Cuba, and a zero-tariff trade agreement that eliminates duties on goods exchanged between the two nations. Mickoski expects to formalise a bilateral treaty at the UN General Assembly and expressed willingness to host Trump during a future visit.
He stressed the country’s strategic location for U.S. military flights and upcoming LNG pipelines, while warning that Chinese investments in Greek ports could reshape European supply chains. The premier also outlined ambitious infrastructure projects, including hydropower plants and data-center development, backed by American investors such as Rumble founder Chris Pavlovski. Overall, Mickoski positioned North Macedonia as a pivotal Balkan ally of the United States amid broader geopolitical competition.
