North Point owners' corporation fined HK$149,000 after worker's fatal fall
The owners’ corporation of a North Point residential building was fined HK$149,000 after a tree-pruning worker died from a fall at Kingsfield Garden.
The owners’ corporation of the North Point complex was penalised by the Eastern Magistrates’ Courts for breaching the Occupational Safety and Health Ordinance. The violation stemmed from a July incident in which a tree-pruning worker fell about 1.2 metres from a parapet wall in the car park, suffered a head injury and died two weeks later. The Labour Department had brought the prosecution, resulting in the HK$149,000 fine.
