North Texas names Tayvan Jackson starter for opening game at Indiana
North Texas has tapped former Indiana quarterback Tayvan Jackson to start against the Hoosiers in the season opener.
The North Texas Mean Green have announced Tayvan Jackson as their starting quarterback for the opening contest of the 2026 campaign, which will be held in Bloomington against Indiana. Jackson, a former Indiana player and Center Grove High School standout, previously saw limited playing time at Tennessee in 2022 before contributing in 13 games for the Hoosiers last season with a 61.2% completion rate, six touchdowns and six interceptions.
He spent the 2025 season at UCF, where he started and completed 63.5% of his throws. In high school, Jackson amassed 4,813 passing yards and 47 touchdowns, guiding his team to an undefeated Class 6A championship. He is also the brother of NBA player Trayce Jackson-Davis, who is in his fourth season with the Toronto Raptors.
