North Wales detective pleads guilty to upskirting a teenage girl

Detective Constable Lee Harshey-Jones, 45, of North Wales Police, pleaded guilty to a count of voyeurism after using his mobile phone to upskin a teenage girl in Colwyn Bay. He also admitted to intending to pervert the course of justice by factory-setting his phone to hide the evidence and to improperly accessing an internal police log concerning the case. The magistrates' hearing in Chester was adjourned for a pre-sentence report, with sentencing scheduled for 19 November at Chester Crown Court.

Harshey-Jones was suspended from duty following his arrest in June. He previously served as the lead investigator in the murder case of Ethan Ives-Griffiths, whose grandparents Michael and Kerry Ives were convicted in 2021. Defense counsel Ryan Donoghue highlighted his client’s prior good character, while Recorder Mark Ford KC warned that the adjournment does not indicate the eventual sentence.
