Norway pledges over $9 billion to Ukraine for 2027 fiscal year
Norway announced it will allocate 85 billion Norwegian crowns to Ukraine in the 2027 budget, matching its 2026 contribution.
In a statement released on Sunday, Norway confirmed a budget allocation of 85 billion Norwegian crowns for Ukraine in the 2027 fiscal year, mirroring the amount given in 2026. The funds are earmarked for both defense-related purchases and humanitarian assistance, according to Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere. Stoere delivered the remarks during a visit to Kyiv alongside leaders from the Nordic and Baltic region, emphasizing that supporting Ukraine safeguards Europe’s own security.
The announcement comes as Russia’s President Vladimir Putin warned that Kyiv’s attacks on Russian economic infrastructure would trigger counter-measures against Ukraine’s most vulnerable sectors. Both sides continue to intensify drone campaigns aimed at each other’s economic assets, extending the conflict beyond the front lines as it enters its fourth and a half year.
Why it matters
The pledge shows continued Western financial backing for Ukraine and signals the war’s broader impact on European security.
