Norway's sovereign fund partners with Ares Real Estate for European logistics assets
The Government Pension Fund Global has entered a strategic partnership with Ares Real Estate to invest in high-quality logistics properties across Europe.
Norway’s sovereign wealth fund, managed by Norges Bank Investment Management, announced a new strategic alliance with Ares Real Estate to expand its exposure to European logistics real estate. The collaboration targets high-grade warehouse and distribution facilities near key consumer centers, primarily in Western and Southern Europe and the United Kingdom. Alex Knapp, who took over the fund’s property investments last year after a stint at Hines, said Ares brings deep market knowledge and a strong track record.
The joint venture will source, develop and operate properties via Ares’ operational arm, Marq Logistics. The fund already holds a substantial portfolio of logistics assets in Europe and North America, and the partnership is intended to broaden its investment opportunities. The agreement was signed on 20 October.
Why it matters
The deal expands Norway's sovereign fund presence in Europe's logistics market, a sector vital for supply-chain stability.
