Norway to raise the regulated electricity price to 45 øre per kWh in 2027
Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre announced that the Norgespris will increase by five øre to 45 øre per kilowatt-hour before VAT next year. Energy Minister Terje Aasland said the change reflects higher spot prices.
The government plans to adjust the regulated electricity price to 45 øre per kWh, which translates to 56 øre after VAT. Støre said the move follows the parliament's decision last year and is based on historical and forward-looking price data. Aasland defended the hike, noting that spot market prices have risen sharply since the previous autumn. A household in the South-West region would receive about 8 700 kroner in support, assuming a consumption of 16 000 kWh.
Why it matters
Higher regulated electricity prices affect household bills and government subsidy budgets across Norway.
