Norwegian FA demands FIFA probe into Trump award, Balogun case and investor plan
The Norwegian Football Federation has lodged a formal complaint with FIFA, asking its ethics and control committees to investigate three high-profile controversies involving President Gianni Infantino.
The Norwegian Football Federation (NFF) confirmed to NTB that it has sent a comprehensive complaint to FIFA, urging the organization’s ethics and control committees to examine three matters it deems serious. The issues include the controversial peace prize awarded to Donald Trump last December, the handling of U.S. player Balogun’s red-card dismissal at the World Cup, and the failed plan to involve private investors in upcoming tournaments.
Lise Klaveness emphasized the need for transparent, independent investigations, especially ahead of FIFA’s March presidential vote. The letter, addressed from Ullevaal Stadion, requests detailed answers on procedural compliance, political neutrality and governance failures. NFF has cautioned that, without a timely reply, it will consider bringing the case before the FIFA Congress. The federation stresses that its aim is to establish facts, not to predetermine outcomes.
Why it matters
It challenges FIFA’s governance and could affect confidence in the sport’s global governing body.
