Norwegian government proposes extensive security and civil preparedness funding package
The Norwegian cabinet unveiled a proposal to boost funding for security, digital safety and civil emergency services in the next state budget.

Justice and Preparedness Minister Astri Aas-Hansen outlined specific allocations, including a boost for the Police Security Service and a comprehensive digitalisation effort for the police.
Additional funds are slated for the National Security Authority, AI Norway and the Helse- og kommuneCERT to improve digital risk management. The plan also proposes higher operating budgets for the new rescue helicopters serving both the mainland and Svalbard, as well as support for a new emergency communications network and increased hospital capacity for crisis situations.
Why it matters
