Norwegian heat-pump sales rebound in early 2026 after two years of decline

After two years of falling sales, Norway's heat-pump market is showing growth in the first half of 2026, according to the industry association.

After a nine-percent drop in total sales last year, the Norwegian heat-pump market is showing a reversal in the first half of 2026. Novap’s managing director Rolf Iver Mytting Hagemoen told DinSide that increased demand for cooling during summer and the need to replace pumps that have reached roughly 15 years of service are driving the rebound. He added that the dual function of heat pumps—providing both cooling and heating—has attracted more homeowners.

In Sweden, Denmark and Finland, where no electricity-price support exists, high power costs are also spurring purchases. Nevertheless, the Norway-price scheme continues to limit sales of residential ground-source pumps, according to Hagemoen. He estimates a typical air-to-air unit can be paid off within five years for a house using about 25,000 kWh annually, and stresses regular maintenance to preserve efficiency and lifespan.
