Norwegian households and vacation-home owners benefit from lower electricity bills under new price scheme

The Energy Ministry announced that the optional, state-financed Norgespris program delivered lower electricity costs for households and owners of vacation homes in the second quarter, when compared with the prevailing spot price. The scheme, which sets a fixed rate of 50 øre per kilowatt-hour, was launched on 1 October 2025 and will be subject to an adjustment after the new year. In addition, households that did not opt for Norgespris but received the standard electricity subsidy also experienced reduced bills.

Energy Minister Terje Aasland highlighted that the combined effect of Norgespris and the subsidy eases financial pressure, particularly in the southern areas where electricity prices have been highest. By late August, a substantial number of households and vacation-home owners were still enrolled in the programme.
