Norwegian man arrested in Thailand after child abuse material found on his devices

Thai police conducted a raid on the residence of a Norwegian national in the country's northeast, seizing a mobile phone, a computer and an external hard drive that held extensive child sexual abuse content. The operation was prompted by a tip from Norwegian police and involved information sharing with Filipino authorities. Gjermund Egenæs Hanssen, a police lawyer at Kripos, confirmed the arrest and noted that the suspect acknowledged the hard drive was his.

He also stated that the suspect faces charges for possessing child abuse material for personal or others' use. Thai investigators are additionally examining whether the individual participated in human trafficking. Norway's foreign ministry has been informed of the arrest, while Thai police have not yet responded to further inquiries.
