Norwegian security service drops probe into Kongsberg Automotive's Russia shipments
The Police Security Service (PST) has closed its investigation into Kongsberg Automotive, finding no criminal breach of sanctions on Russia.
After a year-long investigation started in June 2025, Norway's Police Security Service decided to dismiss the case against Kongsberg Automotive, stating that no criminal conduct could be proven. The firm welcomed the ruling, describing it as a complete exoneration. The inquiry originated from disclosures that automotive components had reached Russia via a Turkish firm, despite the company's claim of halting direct exports after the 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
Kongsberg Automotive subsequently ended its relationship with the Turkish customer and tightened its export-control procedures, requiring downstream buyers to adhere to sanctions rules. In June 2025 the company reported enhanced customer vetting and internal training to avoid similar issues. PST’s conclusion underscores the complexity of modern sanctions compliance in global supply chains.
