Norwegian sex-trafficking suspect captured in Barcelona after hotel-hopping evasion

Police in Barcelona arrested a 44-year-old alleged member of a Norwegian sex-trafficking ring who had been moving between hotels to avoid detection.

A 44-year-old man suspected of belonging to a Norwegian sex-trafficking organization was taken into custody in Barcelona on September 25, after police acted on a European Arrest Warrant. The gang is accused of targeting migrant women with limited language skills and no support network, forcing them into prostitution primarily in Lillestrøm and other south-eastern Norwegian towns from September 2025 to August 2026. The suspect allegedly handled logistics, including driving victims, providing accommodation, advertising services and collecting payments.

Norwegian police had flagged him in Catalunya, but his lack of a fixed address and use of multiple hotels complicated the hunt. Surveillance of an associate revealed a luxury rental car tied to him, leading to his arrest. He has appeared before a judge and awaits extradition, facing a potential sentence of up to 28 years if convicted.
