Nova Scotia moves to tighten rules on non-consensual AI-generated intimate images
The Nova Scotia government introduced a bill to broaden protections for victims of AI-created or altered intimate images, removing the need to prove non-consensual sharing.
A new piece of legislation was tabled on Thursday to amend the province's Intimate Images and Cyber-protection Act. Justice Minister Scott Armstrong said the changes will let victims seek court orders without first demonstrating that the images were shared without consent. The proposal also includes updates to modernise the province's 911 emergency-call system, aiming to improve overall public safety.
