NRCC runs attack ad accusing Democrat Cait Conley of supporting transgender minors

A television advertisement produced by the National Republican Congressional Committee accuses Democratic contender Cait Conley of endorsing public financing for gender-transition procedures for minors, despite her public opposition to the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. The ad highlights her relationship with the Equality PAC, which has condemned legislation that would block Medicaid and CHIP funding for such treatments. Conley, a decorated former special-operations veteran, is locked in a close contest with Rep. Mike Lawler in New York’s 17th District, a race shaped by debates over the SALT deduction cap.

Lawler has criticized Conley for her stance on the bill and for allegedly supporting taxpayer funding of sex changes for children. A recent Supreme Court decision has freed the NRCC and other party groups to coordinate directly with candidates in tight races. According to the Federal Election Commission, the NRCC holds more than $92 million in cash to support candidates in competitive districts. Health experts, including the Mayo Clinic, note that some effects of hormonal therapy and puberty blockers may be irreversible.
