NRL veteran Daly Cherry-Evans to finish career with Hull FC in 2026

After the Sydney Roosters defeated Penrith, veteran halfback Daly Cherry-Evans revealed he will retire from the NRL at the end of the 2026 season and then sign a one-year contract with Hull FC in the English Super League. The 37-year-old, who debuted with Manly in 2011 and holds several NRL records, emphasized his desire to keep competing and expressed excitement about the new challenge. Cherry-Evans’ announcement arrives with the Roosters leading the competition and still in contention for a second premiership.

He also reflected on his long tenure at Manly, noting no hard feelings and appreciation for the club. Hull’s upcoming coach, Steve McNamara, is a close associate of Roosters head coach Trent Robinson. The Roosters have already adjusted their lineup, giving emerging playmaker Hugo Savala a role in the centres.
