NSE launches full audit of network as AI-driven cyber threats intensify
The National Stock Exchange said it is examining every part of its IT infrastructure for weaknesses after AI-based cyber attacks have become a growing concern.
At the Association of NSE Members of India’s annual convention, Ashish Kumar Chauhan, managing director and chief executive officer of the National Stock Exchange, disclosed that the exchange is conducting a thorough audit of its entire network to spot vulnerabilities linked to AI-enabled cyber attacks. He called on all member firms to prioritize cybersecurity to preserve the integrity of India’s trading platform. Chauhan proposed that the industry body create a special task force to map risks, coordinate incident response, and support brokers lacking internal expertise through workshops and external advisory help.
He also highlighted the longer-term threat posed by quantum computing to current cryptographic safeguards. The NSE intends to work closely with the regulator to ensure the broader market ecosystem remains secure and trustworthy.
Why it matters
A breach could undermine confidence in India’s stock markets and disrupt trading for millions of investors.
