NSW Police probe teen's death in suspected sexual choking incident

Just before 5:45 p.m. on Sunday, emergency crews were sent to a residence in Elanora Heights after NSW Police received a welfare concern. Responders found a 16-year-old girl unresponsive; she received treatment on site before being flown to Royal North Shore Hospital, where she remained in critical condition until her death on Tuesday night. Authorities have not disclosed injury details, but two sources told one outlet the death is believed to result from asphyxiation caused by choking during consensual sexual intercourse.

No arrests or charges have been filed, and the case is being handled by the Northern Beaches Police Area Command. Independent federal MP Zali Steggall, whose electorate borders the area, called the incident devastating and offered sympathy to the victim’s family and community.
