NTPC seeks investors for 26% stake in industrial co-generation projects

India's largest power utility NTPC Limited has opened an Expression of Interest for commercial and industrial firms to acquire a 26% equity share in new co-generation facilities.

NTPC Limited, which operates over 91 GW of capacity in India, invited Expressions of Interest from commercial and industrial entities to purchase a 26% equity stake in upcoming co-generation projects. These facilities are designed to deliver combined steam and electricity output, integrating coal, renewable sources and Battery Energy Storage Systems. By offering long-term power supply arrangements, NTPC hopes to meet industry demands for energy security, lower costs and greener operations.

The bid invitation underscores the utility's strategy to expand its portfolio beyond traditional power generation into innovative energy models. NTPC also highlighted its target of reaching 149 GW total capacity by 2032, including 60 GW from renewables. The call for partners is part of its effort to support industrial growth while advancing sustainability goals.
