NYC 27-year-old juggles nine income streams to earn $130,000, warns of burnout
Mohuya Khan, a 27-year-old New Yorker, generated roughly $130,000 in 2025 from nine different jobs but says the relentless hustle nearly exhausted her.
Born to Bangladeshi immigrants in Queens, Mohuya Khan entered the workforce at 15 and later earned a bachelor’s degree from Hunter College before pursuing graduate studies in childhood education. During the pandemic she began posting artwork on YouTube, Instagram and TikTok, eventually launching the Indo-Western clothing line Labyrinthave. By 2025 she was pulling in roughly $130,000 from nine separate income sources, which, after taxes and costs, left her with about $70,000.
She lives in a $3,000 Astoria rental she shares with her husband and contributes to her parents’ mortgage. While the hustle enabled her to become debt-free and financially independent, Khan says the nonstop grind created a “toxic” mindset and severe burnout, leaving her unsure if she would choose the same route again. She now seeks a healthier work-life balance while remaining committed to staying in New York.
