NYFW showcases vibrant, joyful collections as designers celebrate milestones and bold colors

New York Fashion Week opened with a celebratory mood, as designers swapped subdued tones for vivid colors, glittering details and theatrical set pieces. Legacy brands marked milestones—Coach’s 85th anniversary, Michael Kors and Carolina Herrera’s 45-year marks, and Rachel Comey’s 25-year career—while showcasing party-hat gowns, gift-wrapped accessories and confetti-filled runways. Collections from Tory Burch, Ralph Lauren, Eckhaus Latta and others leaned into joyful dressing, pairing opulent femininity with utilitarian sportswear and garden-stage presentations.

Key trends included waist-highlighting cummerbunds and chunky belts, fluid fringe on dresses and jackets, and a dominant blue palette ranging from navy to cobalt. Designers also experimented with animal-print wraps, sheer fabrics and tailored suiting, underscoring a move away from the previous quiet-luxury aesthetic toward vibrant, mood-lifting fashion.
