NYPD recruit collapses during training and dies at Queens hospital
A newly hired NYPD trainee died on Monday after collapsing while exercising at the police academy in Queens.
The recruit, who joined the department in April, fell unconscious during a workout at the NYPD academy and was rushed to Booth Memorial Hospital. Although CPR revived them briefly, they were pronounced dead at 1 p.m. Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch later visited the hospital as the situation worsened.
