NYPD releases suspect footage after motor-oil attacks on Queens synagogues

On Monday, the New York City Police Department released surveillance footage of two men suspected of hurling motor-oil bags at two Orthodox synagogues in Queens on July 16. The attacks targeted Young Israel of Jamaica Estates and Young Israel of Holliswood, resulting in property damage that officials classified as hate-crime criminal mischief. NYPD officials appealed for public assistance in identifying the suspects.

Rabbi Moshe Taub of the Holliswood congregation expressed resolve to keep worshiping and criticized the mayor’s response, while Rabbi Dov Lerner of Jamaica Estates emphasized that such hatred will only strengthen community unity. Adam Orlow, president of the Jamaica Estates synagogue, also affirmed that the incident will not intimidate the congregation.
