Oasis seeks injunction to halt auction of £1.6m historic recordings

Oasis initiated court action to prevent the auction of The Desk Tapes, a cache of 63 live concert recordings and more than 100 hours of rehearsal material assembled by ex-sound engineer Huw Richards, which carries an estimated guide price between £1.2 million and £1.6 million. Littleton Auctions responded by pulling the lot from its scheduled 3 October sale, and Owain Richards, who arranged the sale with his father, announced the auction would be delayed until the legal dispute is settled.

The remainder of the auction, featuring Oasis memorabilia such as setlists, tour itineraries and a band-used Epiphone guitar, will proceed as planned. The injunction aims to protect the cultural value of the recordings and ensure proper ownership rights are respected.
