October Social Security checks will be mailed in three weekly batches
The first batch of October Social Security benefits, capped at $5,181, will be sent out in 18 days, with subsequent rounds following weekly.
The Social Security Administration announced that the initial October benefit distribution, limited to $5,181 per month, will be dispatched in 18 days to retirees born on or before the 10th of each month. A second wave will reach those with birthdays from the 11th to the 20th on Oct. 21, and a final wave for the 21st onward will be sent on Oct. 28. Eligibility begins at age 62, and the amount a beneficiary receives depends on retirement age, lifetime contributions, and years of coverage.
A 62-year-old may collect up to $2,969, while a 70-year-old can receive the maximum $5,181. The program is funded by payroll taxes from workers and employers, and trustees warn that the trust fund could be exhausted by 2032 without congressional action.
