Odell Beckham Jr. earns spot on Giants' 53-man roster

Veteran wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., 33, has been placed on the New York Giants' 53-man roster after the preseason cuts.

Odell Beckham Jr., now 33, has been added to the New York Giants' 53-man roster, marking a notable step in his comeback with the franchise where he began his NFL career. Over three preseason games he caught seven passes for 76 yards, prompting coach John Harbaugh to say his effort was enough for a roster spot, though the final call came after the deadline. Beckham missed the entire last season, serving a six-game suspension for a performance-enhancing drug test and remaining unsigned thereafter.

He worked out for the Giants in April, signed in June, and emphasized his determination to earn a place. A season-ending knee injury to Calvin Austin created an opening that also allowed return specialist Braxton Berrios to remain in contention. If he plays on September 13, it will be his first home game in a Giants uniform since December 2018.

Why it matters

Beckham's return adds experience to the Giants' receiving group and influences their roster strategy.
