Odyssey Hotel Group targets up to ten new hotels across Portugal

Odyssey Hotel Group announced plans to develop between eight and ten hotels in Portugal, starting with a 200-room property in Porto’s Campanhã district.

Odyssey Hotel Group, a Dutch hospitality operator, is preparing to enter the Portuguese market with a flagship hotel in Porto’s Campanhã area that will contain over 200 rooms and operate under an international brand like Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Accor or Radisson. Gonzalo Escrivá de Romaní highlighted Portugal’s “enormous growth potential” driven by strong international tourism, solid air connections and rising interest from investors, especially from the United States.

The company’s broader strategy calls for a portfolio of eight to ten hotels across Portugal within three years, focusing on Lisbon, Porto and the Algarve. In the Algarve, the group is seeking resorts of more than 120 rooms, either through new construction or acquisition and rebranding of existing properties. The plan comes amid a surge in hotel investment, with Savills reporting €508 million invested in the first half of 2026, a 54 % rise from the previous year, and over €1 billion invested between January 2025 and June 2026.

Why it matters

The expansion could boost tourism jobs and increase competition among global hotel brands in Portugal.
