Ohio Democratic organizer likens Trump defeat to ousting Hungary's Orban

A field organizer for OhioWins compared the effort to remove former Hungarian leader Viktor Orban with the push to defeat Donald Trump in Ohio.

In covert footage, Zoie Smith, a field organizer for OhioWins, drew a parallel between the effort to remove Viktor Orban from power in Hungary and the strategy to defeat Donald Trump in Ohio. She characterized Orban as a long-standing authoritarian leader who allegedly manipulated elections and was favored by rural Hungarians, while urban areas opposed him. Smith suggested that the same urban-rural divide exists in the United States, with blue states needing massive voter turnout to oust Trump and the MAGA movement.

She emphasized that achieving over 75 percent turnout in the state’s most Democratic precincts could secure Sherrod Brown’s Senate victory, citing similar tactics used abroad. The video also referenced attempts by Democrats to bar Trump from office and pursue legal actions against him and his supporters.

Why it matters

The remarks reveal how Ohio Democrats are framing national elections using foreign authoritarian examples to motivate voters.
