Ohio Senate race tightens as voters prioritize inflation and candidate ties

Former Democratic Senator Sherrod Brown leads incumbent Republican Jon Husted by eight points overall, a margin that expands among voters who are certain they will vote or highly motivated to turn out. Concerns about Husted's proximity to President Trump have risen, while apprehension about Brown's connection to the Democratic Party establishment remains lower.

Republican identification with Husted remains strong, yet a measurable share of GOP voters are backing Brown, eroding Husted's traditional advantage. Brown also enjoys strong support among liberals, urban residents, union households and college graduates, whereas Husted is favored by conservatives, white evangelical Christians and rural voters. Personal favorability ratings show Brown ahead, with 51% viewing him favorably compared with 43% for Husted.
