Ohio woman sentenced for dragging DoorDash driver to death after parking-lot clash

In a case stemming from a parking-lot collision last October, Danielle Henry was sentenced to a maximum of five and a half years in prison after admitting guilt to aggravated vehicular homicide. The fatal encounter occurred at a Kroger shopping center in Westerville, Ohio, where Henry, operating a stolen car and recently involved in shoplifting, struck 38-year-old Ibrahim Diakite, a DoorDash driver. When Henry attempted to leave the scene, Diakite pursued, stopped at a traffic light, exited his vehicle, and climbed onto Henry’s hood to block her escape.

Henry then accelerated to about 45 mph, pulling Diakite under the car and dragging him roughly 300 to 600 feet before he was pronounced dead at a hospital. Authorities noted Henry had several outstanding warrants for theft, receiving stolen property, and police non-compliance. Westerville Police Chief Holly Murchland said Henry’s actions showed a willingness to evade law enforcement and posed a community threat. The court ordered a minimum four-year incarceration and a permanent revocation of her driver’s license.
