Oil majors boost petrol-pump toilet inspections to raise service standards
Public-sector oil marketers are intensifying toilet checks at fuel stations, with senior managers conducting spot inspections and QR codes enabling traveler feedback.
As part of the Swachhata Abhiyan, India's public oil marketers are turning petrol-pump toilet hygiene into a measurable service metric. Indian Oil's marketing director Saumitra Priya Srivastava and BPCL's marketing director Subhankar Sen inspected stations in Mumbai, New Delhi, Kolkata, Indore, Jabalpur and Rewa, showcasing spotless washrooms and QR codes that let motorists rate the facilities. The initiative combines senior-level spot checks, dedicated janitorial crews and sensor-based cleanliness monitoring.
Feedback collected via the Darpan QR codes is meant to trigger swift corrective action. Officials say the effort aims to embed hygiene into daily operations rather than treat it as a one-off campaign, reinforcing customer trust on long journeys.
Why it matters
Clean restrooms at fuel stations improve traveler experience and signal broader service quality in India's retail oil network.
