Okamura pushes for ending TV and radio fees and debates on Ukrainian refugees

In the Czech Chamber, Okamura urged the coalition to speed up legislation, prioritising the abolition of television and radio licence fees.

Okamura told fellow deputies that the coalition should accelerate the processing of pending bills, with the removal of TV and radio fees at the top of the agenda. He also sought partners' views on admitting more Ukrainian migrants because of the war and the approaching winter. Additionally, he criticised Industry Minister Karl Havlíček's plan to raise quotas for Filipino workers, saying SPD voters are displeased.

Why it matters

The push to scrap media fees and debate refugee intake could reshape Czech fiscal policy and immigration stance.
