Olivia Miles exits Lynx win with ankle injury, sparking health concerns

Minnesota Lynx rookie Olivia Miles left the court with a rolled left ankle during the team's 77-66 victory over the Golden State Valkyries, prompting worries about her condition.

Olivia Miles, the No. 2 overall pick for the Minnesota Lynx, delivered a stellar performance in the 77-66 road win over the Golden State Valkyries, recording 20 points, five rebounds and seven assists while shooting 8-for-10. Late in the fourth quarter she accidentally stepped on Napheesa Collier's foot, rolling her left ankle and forcing her to leave the game and head straight to the locker room. Although she returned to the bench briefly, the abrupt exit raised concerns among fans, some citing her injury history and others criticizing the coaching staff for keeping key players in late minutes.

The Lynx maintain the league's best record at 30-7 and have already secured a playoff berth. With a 17-day FIBA World Cup break scheduled from August 31 to September 16, Miles is expected to have ample time for evaluation and recovery, though no official diagnosis has been released.

Why it matters

Miles' injury could affect the Lynx's star player availability during the crucial playoff stretch.
