Olivia Rodrigo condemns Trump administration for exploiting her song in immigration campaign

Grammy-winning artist Olivia Rodrigo criticized the Trump administration for using her song “All-American B---h” in a Department of Homeland Security social-media video that urged undocumented immigrants to self-deport. She described the move as a diversionary tactic that masks more severe actions, calling the administration barbaric and cruel. After Rodrigo publicly condemned the use of her music, a DHS spokesperson suggested she should thank federal law-enforcement officers, and the video was subsequently edited to remove the track.

Rodrigo highlighted the personal impact, saying it was painful to hear a song about misogynistic constraints paired with images of ICE raids. In response, she headlined the Daisy Chain Fields music festival in Irvine, featuring all-women performers such as Stevie Nicks and Sarah McLachlan, which raised $20 million for organizations supporting women and girls. She emphasized that joy and community are essential antidotes to attempts at intimidation.
