Oman joined global observances of World Tourism Day, emphasizing the role of digital tools and artificial intelligence in reshaping its tourism sector.
Oman participated in the worldwide celebration of World Tourism Day, adopting the theme "Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism." The ministry highlighted how modern technologies can boost destination development, visitor experience, and sector efficiency while enhancing resilience to crises. Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said Al Busaidi reaffirmed tourism's importance for economic diversification and outlined a vision that merges growth with heritage protection and community benefits.
The ministry is extending digital transformation beyond marketing to redesign the entire tourist journey, using AI and data analytics to better understand markets, personalize offers, and manage flows. Undersecretary Azzan bin Qassim Al Busaidi reported a 7% rise in tourist-visa arrivals, viewing it as a sign of successful promotion and market diversification. The strategy also calls for stronger air connectivity, coordinated national partnerships, and support for small and medium enterprises to expand digital booking capabilities.
