Oman's foreign minister meets UN General Assembly president to discuss global cooperation

At the United Nations headquarters in New York, Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi held talks with Dr Khalil Rahman, the President of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly. The two officials examined the session’s key priorities and explored ways to secure wider consensus among member states, aiming to strengthen the UN’s ability to address complex, interlinked crises. Al Busaidi reiterated Oman’s support for the president’s initiative to rebuild trust in international cooperation and improve the UN system’s performance in line with the Charter.

Their dialogue underscored the importance of preventive diplomacy and the contribution of dialogue to conflict reduction. They also stressed that peacebuilding efforts must be tied to sustainable development goals to achieve broader, long-term stability.
