One dead, four injured including children in Kentucky concert shooting

Around 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, shots rang out at an outdoor concert in Lexington's Charles Young Park, killing one attendee and wounding four others, including a 14-year-old and a 4-year-old. The injured were transported to a local hospital and are reported to have non-life-threatening injuries. The shooting happened roughly a mile and a half from the Hyatt Regency, where Governor Beshear was delivering remarks at the Kentucky Democratic Party’s Moving Forward Together dinner.

Beshear acknowledged the tragedy to the audience, noting the proximity of the violence. Lexington Police Department officials said the investigation was ongoing and appealed for information from anyone who might know the shooter’s identity or motives. The incident follows a series of shootings reported earlier that day in Michigan, Virginia and Chicago.
