One in Eight UK Adults Have Never Checked Their State Pension Forecast
Research for HM Revenue and Customs shows that about 12.5% of adults in the UK have never looked at their state pension forecast, with those aged 45-54 least likely to have done so.
A survey commissioned by HMRC and carried out by Censuswide in February and March found that roughly one in eight UK adults have not accessed their state pension forecast. The gap is most pronounced among people aged 45 to 54. HMRC’s chief customer officer, Myrtle Lloyd, urged people to use the HMRC app, noting that a quick check can improve confidence about retirement planning. The study was released during Pension Awareness Week, which runs from September 15 to 18.
Why it matters
Many people risk inadequate retirement savings because they never check their state pension forecast.
