One year after six-year-old Darius Macdougall vanished near Crowsnest Pass
A year after Darius Macdougall, a six-year-old with autism, disappeared near Island Lake Campground, RCMP say the investigation remains active.
On Sept. 21, 2025, six-year-old Darius Macdougall, who has autism, went missing while separated from his family near Island Lake Campground, about 2.5 miles south of Crowsnest Pass. Search operations deployed ground crews, aircraft, canine units and thermal-imaging drones, but the effort concluded without finding him. A year later, RCMP released a statement confirming that the case is still open, with investigators reviewing information and pursuing any credible leads.
Over 70 tips from the public have been fully investigated, yet none have led to Darius’s recovery. Authorities continue to urge anyone with additional information to contact the Crowsnest Pass RCMP.
