OP-Pohjola mandates at least half of workweek in office by early October

OP-Pohjola issued a directive requiring staff in its Central Community division to work on-site for at least half of their weekly hours starting in early October. The change follows a period when remote work was highly flexible, with many employees only needing to attend the office a few days each month. Employees with commutes exceeding one hundred kilometres will be granted extra time—up to the end of the year—to reorganise their schedules.

About half of the Central Community workforce already meets the new threshold, while a minority currently work fewer than two days per one outlet in the office. Most affected staff are based within fifty kilometres of the Helsinki Vallila headquarters, though teams also operate in other Finnish cities and the Baltic region. HR leader Hannakaisa Länsisalmi emphasized the need for consistent hybrid practices to support face-to-face learning and adapt to evolving AI-driven work environments.
