OPEC+ decides to keep November oil output at September levels amid supply threats
Seven OPEC+ members agreed to maintain their September 2026 production quotas through November, citing ongoing geopolitical risks to oil supplies.
In a virtual meeting on 4 October, seven OPEC+ countries confirmed that they will not raise oil production for November, keeping the September 2026 quota unchanged. This follows a similar decision for October, after the group had gradually restored 1.65 million barrels per day of previously cut supply. The Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee stressed the need to protect international shipping lanes and noted the volatility caused by attacks on energy facilities.
OPEC+ reaffirmed its commitment to the broader Declaration of Cooperation and will continue to monitor compliance. The alliance plans another meeting on 1 November to reassess conditions, with a further monitoring committee session scheduled for later in the month.
Why it matters
Steady OPEC+ output limits supply shocks, influencing global fuel prices and economic stability.
