OpenAI adds PIN-protected Locked Chats to boost privacy in ChatGPT
OpenAI introduced a Locked Chats feature that lets users secure conversations with a four-digit PIN, Face ID or Touch ID.
OpenAI announced that ChatGPT users can now lock specific conversations, requiring a four-digit PIN, Face ID or Touch ID to open them. Locked chats are moved to a dedicated area, hidden from normal history, pinned chats and search results, and they retain a separate memory that does not feed into regular chats. The feature is available on Free, Go, Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu plans, but not on the Healthcare version, and it does not apply to temporary, archived, group, shared-link, scheduled-task or meeting-recording chats.
Resetting the PIN deletes all locked content permanently. The update started rolling out on Tuesday, so some users may still be waiting for access.
