OpenAI launches GPT-6 Astra, touting major gains in AI productivity and security

OpenAI introduced GPT-6 Astra, a new AI model designed to handle complex computer tasks, coding, scientific work and cybersecurity for enterprise users.

OpenAI introduced its latest AI system, GPT-6 Astra, citing major advances in pre‑training, reinforcement learning and alignment. The model will be accessible through the ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise tiers, the OpenAI API and Amazon Web Services. OpenAI said Astra has reached its defined "critical" cyber capability, meaning it can autonomously locate previously unknown software vulnerabilities. As a result, the company said it will apply tighter safety controls before a broader release, with an initial limited rollout to participants in its Daybreak Blue early‑access program, including firms such as Cisco, Cloudflare and Palo Alto Networks.
