OpenAI opens upgraded ChatGPT scheduling tool to free users and adds trigger integrations
OpenAI now permits free-account holders to use ChatGPT’s enhanced task-scheduling feature, while paid tiers gain automatic prompts linked to Gmail, Slack and GitHub.
OpenAI has expanded access to its upgraded task-scheduling tool, making it usable by free-account users after it was initially restricted to Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise customers. The scheduling menu, introduced in June, lets all users create, monitor and edit future requests directly from ChatGPT’s sidebar. For paying customers, the company added trigger functionality that automatically runs prompts when activity is detected in Gmail, Slack or GitHub.
A new sharing option enables users to distribute scheduled tasks to collaborators, supporting shared workflows. OpenAI suggests practical applications such as travel alerts, streaming-service updates, or daily news digests. The rollout broadens the chatbot’s automation capabilities for a wider audience.
