OpenAI rolls out $500 Pro plan with Ultrafast speed and new Sol model

OpenAI introduced a $500 per month Pro subscription featuring an Ultrafast speed tier and announced the GPT-6.1 Sol model, while reducing benefits of its existing $200 plan.

OpenAI announced a new $500 monthly Pro subscription, the Pro 500 plan, at its DevDay conference. The tier provides the company's top usage allowance and introduces an Ultrafast speed tier that can generate up to 300 tokens per second in Codex and Work applications, also available to API users. Simultaneously, OpenAI revealed GPT-6.1 Sol, a model that delivers performance comparable to GPT-6.0 Astra while costing only one fifth of the price and offering greater transparency and safety.

The existing $200 Pro plan will have its included usage reduced from 20-times to 10-times the Plus allowance, and ChatGPT message caps will drop from 200 to 100 per one outlet, with current subscribers receiving a temporary credit. Every Pro subscriber will also get a personal AI agent named Dot, whose interactions are exempt from usage limits. OpenAI is partnering with 16 companies, such as Notion and Cognition, to enable Plus and Pro users to access its models via a "Sign in with ChatGPT" option without needing an API key. The new Sol model will be available in Codex and Work immediately, with ChatGPT integration slated for later.
