OpenAI rolls out ChatGPT advertising to 26 additional nations

OpenAI announced that its ChatGPT ad platform will now be available in 26 more countries, raising the total coverage to 89 nations.

OpenAI disclosed that its ChatGPT advertising service is extending to 26 additional countries, bringing its global reach to 89 markets as it seeks to grow revenue ahead of a possible IPO. The company reported that its ad business hit an annualized revenue run rate of $1 billion in August, after a U.S. pilot that drew more than 100,000 advertisers. The latest rollout adds 14 Latin American nations—including Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Peru—plus new slots in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia such as Nigeria, South Africa, Serbia, Ukraine, Cambodia, Bangladesh and Pakistan.

Advertisers may access the service through technology partners or via a self-service Ads Manager on OpenAI’s platform. Advertising will appear solely on the Free and Go plans, while Plus, Pro and Enterprise subscriptions remain without ads. In September, OpenAI also introduced AI-powered tools for advertisers and began testing business-sponsored agents with select U.S. clients.

Why it matters

The expansion boosts OpenAI's revenue stream and signals its push toward a public market while increasing ad exposure for businesses worldwide.
